Easter 2015

We had a lovely Easter Sunday; the one day of the year I can convince my boys to dress up for church. Aren't they just the handsomest!? My preteen's girlfriend joined us for the service and she is an absolute doll. Our local church, Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church, has been an absolute blessing this year. Pastor Josh Crain had a great message titled "Out of the Shadows" that you can hear right here: "Out of the Shadows" Sermon Podcast We enjoyed a traditional Easter lunch at home (ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, and rolls) complete with Paula Deen's banana pudding in a trifle. Delicious. We are so thankful for our family, our church, and this wonderful little community to spend this year. And, more than anything, we are thankful for a Savior who is risen and loves each of us fiercely and forever.

White House Easter Egg Roll 2013

Our family was THRILLED to be picked from the Easter Egg ticket lottery this year. This event has been at the top of my "DC Bucket List" since we found out we were moving here and it did not disappoint. The entire event was wonderfully organized, beautifully laid out, and was something we'll never forget. 2013 White House Easter Egg Roll Checking In Event Map Amazing Talent My boys and me Ready to Egg Roll On Your Mark, Get Set ... Happy Easter from Texas!

We had a rather lovely Easter Sunday today. The boys woke to their annual Easter treat basket and we enjoyed breakfast together.  We revisited the Easter Story using "Resurrection Eggs" ... a series of 12 plastic eggs containing a symbol of one part of the story.  Each egg has a verse from the Bible to go with it.  This year, Joshua read the story.  I love it because it tells the story in an easy-to-follow and interesting format and we are reminded again of Christ's amazing love for us.  A backyard egg hunt followed then it was time for lunch and going to church.  Our friend, Zach, made the trip with us this week and we were happy to spend that time with him.  We made a quick stop on the way to Legacy to snap a photo with some Texas bluebonnets, which are blooming everywhere right now. The church service was beautiful and we were excited that Gram and Granddad were able to join us!  We ended the day fellowshipping with family and friends at C...

Easter Breakfast

This Easter Sunday, the boys woke to a fun Easter breakfast.  On the menu?  Blue Peeps on a green sugared nest, two orange cinnamon rolls, and a boiled egg.  Not the healthiest breakfast ever, but fine for a special occasion ... and the dash of protein from the egg got the kids through our worship service before they were hungry again. Love this fun Easter breakfast!

Photos of an Easter Past

We love Easter at our house.  Not only do we have the supreme privilege of worshipping a risen Savior and celebrating His resurrection on Easter Sunday, it also gives us an opportunity to make some fun memories with our children.  We look forward to the Easter Bunny's visit and welcome Spring with open arms. As I was looking through photos, I found these of my youngest son's first Easter.  They were so cute I had to share them.  I can't believe my babies are growing up so fast!  In these photos, the older son is only four and the youngest is not even a year old.  Crazy how time flies. We loved making this Easter Bunny cake together, although if I remember correctly, the boys didn't want to eat any of it because it was covered in coconut.  Cute for bunny 'fur,' not so good for eating. This baby was not greedy about his Easter eggs.  One in each hand was plenty for him. Our family all dressed up for Easter Sunday. Here is wishing you all a v...
