First Homecoming Dance

My teen went to his first homecoming dance tonight, but not at the school he currently attends.  It a crazy turn of events, we ended up back in the Washington DC area on the very weekend that the high school he would have attended hosted their Homecoming.    With the power of modern media, he was able to learn about the weekend through friends and accepted an invitation from a great friend to attend the dance.  I was very proud of his resourcefulness as he had to locate, download, and print a permission form, obtain the signature of his current school principal, and arrange with his friend to meet up for the dance.  These may sound like mundane tasks, but for my teen, this was somewhere near monumental.    He had a great time and I'm glad he got the opportunity to go to the dance ... especially since he missed his current school homecoming, happening the same night.  Funny coincidences but a superfun night.

Spring Has Sprung

Spring has sprung in Vienna, Virginia. I had to post these pictures because 1) the flowers are just breathtaking and the colors are magnificent, and 2) when I was in the front yard taking these pictures, Joshua came outside and said, "Are you going to post these with the title 'Spring Has Sprung?'"

MBC Tyson's Kids Serve Weekend

Joshua volunteered to be a part of the McLean Bible Church Kids Serve weekend and was excited to be a part of the fun this morning. He handed out programs, held the door, greeted guests, and took up the offering. His group was assigned to the Edge community so Nate and I decided to worship in that area. I am so proud of this boy and so excited to see him start to settle in to life in Virginia. It's been a tough adjustment for him and his fabulous church and school have been instrumental in making him feel a little more at home here. That's something this mom can celebrate.

Adventures in Odyssey Auditions

Today the boys and I headed to the McLean Bible Church Bookstore so they could audition for "Get in the Show" ... hoping for a chance to be a voice in Adventures in Odyssey.  They had two scripts to read: "Gum" and "Tithing."  They had a great time rehearsing with each other and enjoyed a few moments with the mic ... actually we were there for over 2 hours as they perfected their submissions ... but it was a lot of fun.
