Baylor Basketball Camp

This is my boy on Day One of Baylor Basketball camp. I'm so excited for him to get to play there! BIG hugs and thanks to the parents-in-law for keeping the boys this week and providing all the transportation and support throughout the camp!

Spring Break Basketball Camp

My boys opted for a basketball camp over this Spring Break and had a great time at Mark Vincent's camp in Springfield.  They both feel like they learned a lot and improved their game.  The camp was a nice balance of fun drills, competition, and play.  The highlight for them seemed to be the high school players who came to run drills and demonstrations for them.  They were especially excited to meet Ishmail Wainwright who, after receiving 35 Division I offers for scholarships, chose BAYLOR as his university.  We all look forward to seeing him play with the Baylor Men next season.

Hoops for Troops

This morning, our family headed down to the DC Armory where Hoops for Troops was hosting a Military Appreciation Day featuring the Men's and Women's USA Olympic basketball teams.  Dazzling displays, free "Hoops for Troops" t-shirts, basketball clinic for local girls conducted by Team USA Women, and an impressive scrimmage game from Team USA Men were highlights from the morning. Side events included an on-court shooting contest pairing a Team USA star with a service member representing their branch, basketball acrobatics (involving a mini trampoline, no less), and a poignant exchange where service members took the velcro American flag from their uniforms and passed them to a Team USA member to wish them good luck at the 2012 London games. It was a magnificent event and one we were proud to attend.  Thanks, Hoops for Troops, for hosting such a fun time for our local military!  And good luck to our Dream Team players in the Olympic Games ... we're rooting for you...

Sic 'Em, Bears!

Okay, I'm a moderate sports fan; not fanatical, not disinterested, but somewhere in between. I much prefer watching a game where I have some knowledge or interest in the team and/or players (unlike Hubby who really could watch any game of any sport and derive pleasure from the experience). Well, my alma mater is in the Elite Eight of "March Madness" and it's been great fun cheering them on. We'll gather around the television again tomorrow afternoon as the Baylor Bears take on the Blue Devils of Duke University.  If you're currently unaffiliated, please feel free to cheer on my Bears! For a quick run-down of how the season has gone for Baylor, here is a short article from the " Baylor Proud " website:   2010 Men’s hoops reaches Elite Eight Last year this time, we were writing about the Baylor men’s basketball team reaching the NIT Final Four and the excitement of playing at Madison Square Garden. Fast forward 12 months, and the Bears are one ...
