Orchestra State Assessment

Trey woke up bright and early on Saturday morning to dress for his school's State Orchestra Assessment.  This is his third year playing the violin and he continues to enjoy it.  We heard his orchestra play three songs and they received a score of "1" across the board.  Great job, Thoreau!

Snow Day!

After weeks of bemoaning the fact that Texas has received more snowfall than DC this winter, the boys were THRILLED to wake up to a full-day SNOW DAY here in Virginia.  They spent hours out in the snow ... building forts, snowball fighting, and making snowmen.  Even Leo joined in on the fun.  He refused to go outside alone but stayed out the entire time the boys were out, playing right along with them. Some hot cocoa and homemade chili warmed us all in the evening and everyone slept well ... further enjoying the 2-hour delay the next day! Hooray for Snow Day 2013!

80s Farewell

We had a totally awesome time tonight at, like, a dinner for these great Army folks who are, like, totally leaving for a rad new job.  It was fer sure a great time!

Wicked!

Enjoying a fabulous pre-show dinner at La Masseria in the Theater District. Trey and I chose the "Black and White Pasta" ... dyed with squid ink. Nate went with fish ... a literal fish. Wicked is just amazing the second time seeing it! The boys thoroughly enjoyed the show.

Teenager in the House!

Ready for a delicious dinner at Carmine's Italian Restaurant in downtown DC. Trey is ready to pick out his very own reptile ... his birthday wish. Joshua presents his brother with an xBox game. We order Carmine's signature dessert, "The Titanic," for Trey's birthday dessert! His top birthday wish?  A Facebook account!  :)
