Fabulous Army Life

The VYI Youth Football League awarded the winning teams and players tonight.  Trey's 155 team made it into the playoffs and played well in the National Championship tournament in Florida so they were excited to be a part of the program tonight.  Go, Raiders!

Our little hometown of Gainesville, Texas, was named "America's Most Patriotic City" by "Best of the Road," sponsored by Rand McNally and USA Today. One big standout fact: Gainesville is the only Medal of Honor Host City in America and they work hard to honor and remember our Medal of Honor recipients. Check out this video about Gainesville ...

Every month, the 1st Cavalry Division honors volunteers from all the battalions within the division. It is a nice time to say 'thank you' to those who give so much of themselves for our Soldiers and their Families. Our battalion always has a fabulous volunteer recognized at these ceremonies and I'm so happy to be among such amazing good-hearted people. This month, the volunteers for our battalion were the "Ladies of Legacy" ... a group of ladies who travel from Legacy Church (in Round Rock, Texas) to Fort Hood once a month to help out with children's activities during battalion-wide FRG Meetings.  They were absolutely phenomenal and I was thrilled they could make it for this appreciation ceremony. Joshua has had a wonderful 2nd grade year. He adores his teacher, Mrs. Jones, and has learned so much. I cannot help but be so proud of my baby boy for such a successful school year.  Great job, Joshua! Joshua receives a certificate for all As for the schoolyear! He manages to avoid eye contact with me all the way to his seat.  =) So proud of this handsome boy! Yes, honey, you have to take a picture with your mom.

I have to brag just a bit on my sweet little first grader.  He had such a fabulous 1st grade year and is a marvelous little guy.  All As throughout the school year AND he received the "Most Outstanding Student" for his class at the end-of-year awards ceremony.  Plus, he's really super cute.  =)
