Raider Football Practice and Pizza Party

I could not be happier with Trey's football team experience so far.  His coaches are encouraging yet tough, and spend their time actually teaching each player how to best play his position.  For this mom of a first-time football player, it is nothing short of an answered prayer.  And, because of the approach his coaches have taken, Trey is excited about the game and learning each and every time he puts on his pads and helmet.

Tonight, the team enjoyed a pizza party and social after a 2 hour practice.  They boys were ravenous, of course, but then wandered right back onto the field after eating, playing because they love to play.  They are bonding as a team, getting to know each other, and having fun every step of the way.

Bonus for me is that I've been designated as the actual team photographer!  This means I can take all the photos I want and my teenager cannot complain!  "But I'm the team photographer" is my favorite phrase and my all-access pass to the practices and games.  Yippee!!

Joshua was able to meet his new teacher today at Marshall Road's open house.  She's new to the district and we are thrilled with her!

Starting 8th Grade

He's got a class schedule and a locker, folks!  It's time for 8th grade to begin!  Trey was playing the role of 'been there, done that' as he cruised through his Open House, getting his class schedule, locating his new locker, and checking all the blocks of getting ready for 8th grade.  He's ready for a great year!

Happy Birthday to the Man in Our House

My husband turns 42 today ... just 11 LOOOOOOONG days after my own 42nd birthday.  With the teenager at Youth Camp, it was up to Joshua and me to entertain and celebrate our fabulous guy.

Marine Corps Evening Parade

What a treat for my husband and me to be able to attend the Marine Corps Evening Parade with some great friends.  I love my Army and Soldiers will always be first in my heart .... but you gotta hand it to the Marines for putting on a great show.  The precision of the silent rifle team and of the entire Marine Corps Barracks battalion was nothing short of phenomenal.  The Drum and Bugle Corps and the Marine Band were equally impressive.

Afterwards, we were able to visit in The Center House, which I think is code for Marine Corps Frat House ... but it was really cool.  We enjoyed some snacks and got a very thorough history of the house from one of the Marines there.  They were definitely an impressive bunch.  Great music, great display of precision and discipline, great fun, and great night with great friends.
